1. CAN I EXCHANGE MONEY DURING THE ORIENTATION?

A Hana Bank branch (http://www.hanabank.com/) is located on the first floor of the Woojunwon Dormitory (Phone: +82-31-203-1111 / Fax: +82-31-273-9511) as well as a Woori Bank branch (http://www.wooribank.com/) on the second floor of the Student Union Building (Phone: +82-31-201-2858 / +82-31-273-4384).

Services: Foreign currency exchange and remittance, Withdraw cash from global ATM
Business Hours: 9:30~16:30
Currency: Korea`s official monetary unit is “won”

The Korean currency consists of a fifty thousand, ten thousand, five thousand, and one thousand won notes, and five hundred, one hundred, fifty and ten won coins.

Currency Exchange Rate: Recently, dollar(USA) exchanges for about 1,200 won. Exchange rates may change at any time according to the market conditions.


2. CAN WE GO OUT AFTER ARRIVING AT THE ORIENTATION VENUE AND BEFORE THE ORIENTATION STARTS ON the 4TH?
Yes, you may leave the orientation venue after check-in. You are required to return to the venue before 9pm on August 3rd.


3. WHERE DO I SHOP FOR NECESSITIES?
Home-plus is only 1.2km away from the main gate of Kyung Hee University. Like Walmart, Home-plus sells variety of products from food to clothing and electronic goods. In case of dryer sheets, they are harder to come by but they are sold. Not many Korean households use dryer machines. There are dryer machines at the dormitory during the 3 weeks orientation. However, you are unlikely to have one during the rest of your stay in Korea. On the other hand, softeners are sold at all major stores.


4. WHAT KIND OF DORMITORY ROOM WILL I BE STAYING AT?
You will be sharing a room with one assigned roommate. Each room is equipped with beds, desks, bathroom/shower and small wardrobe. Beds are prepared with cleaned bedding (ex. Blankets, sheets, pillows, and pillow cases). A clean towel is provided on a daily base and toilet paper is given whenever needed. Items such as hangers, drying rack, blow-dryer, soap, and tooth pastes are not provided. In the case of drying clothes, there are dryer machines along with washing machines in dormitory buildings. If you need more products than what we provide (also for your further stay in Korea), you can always visit Home-plus near the orientation venue.


5. DO I NEED TO BRING FORMAL ATTIRE?
At least one suit (or professional wear) is recommended to bring to Korea. You will be advised to dress business formal for occasions such as school visits, the opening ceremony and closing ceremony.


6. WILL I GET INTERNET ACCESS?
- Dormitory building: Each room is equipped with internet LAN (free of charge).
- Lecture building: Internet Lounge is on the first floor.


7. IS THERE A GYM NEARBY THE ORIENTATION VENUE?
The fitness center is located two minutes away from the dormitory building and free charge for TaLK scholars. Opening hours will be announced at the beginning of the orientation.


8. WHEN DO WE TAKE THE HEALTH TEST?
Your medical checkup is scheduled on August 11th, in the morning. The checkup is mandatory which all TaLK scholars must participate.
