The Korean Honor Scholarship Committee extends an invitation to Korean and Korean-

American undergraduate and graduate students to compete for the year 2022 Korean

Honor Scholarship.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be attending college or university at least both 2021 fall and 2022 spring semesters in the U. S. A. and must have an overall grade average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 basis.

In addition to the academic achievement, an essay, a letter of recommendation, awards, honors, performances and extracurricular activities are reviewed for selection. Approximately 22 scholarships will be awarded in the U. S. this year. (including 6 public diplomacy scholarships)

Scholarship will be awarded once in undergraduate and graduate level respectively. (Until 2017 year scholarship could be awarded once per each student in any levels)

Applications also must be submitted to the regional consular office CLOSEST TO his or her HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION.

The following dates are important for who are interested in applying the Korean Honor Scholarship

- Application period: April 18 ~ June 17, 2022

All of the required documents should be delivered in the mail to the Chicago Korean Education Center (9810 Capitol Drive, Wheeling, IL 60090) by June 17 (Fri), 5pm CST

- First round evaluation at regional consular offices: June 20 ~ July 1, 2022

- Final round evaluation by Central Selection Committee: July 29, 2022

- Scholarship Award presentation: After October 4, 2022

The amount of scholarships is as follows:

- Honor Scholarship: $1,000 (16 students or so)

대한민국 정부가 지원하고 주미대사관이 운영하는 재미한인장학기금(The Korean Honor Scholarship)의 2022년도 장학생 선발계획이 확정 발표되었습니다.

미국 지역 한인고등학생 및 대학생 장학생의 경우 22명 내외를 선발할 예정이며, 대학(원)생의 경우 분야별로는 미국내 대학 및 대학원에 재학하고 있는 동포학생과 한국유학생을 대상으로 하는 일반장학생 12명 내외, 음악․미술의 예능계 장학생 2명 내외, 입양한인 및 장애학생 2명 내외 등으로 구분하여 선발할 예정입니다.

<2022년도 한인장학기금 운영의 주요 방향>

1. 대학생 장학생 선발자 중 일반장학생에게 각 1,000불의 장학금 수여

2. 장학금 신청이 가능한 학점을 4.0점 기준으로 3.0점 이상으로 하여 신청 문호를 확대

3. 학부와 대학원에서 각각 1회씩 장학금을 받을 수 있도록 함. 이에 따라 학부에서 장학생으로 선정되어 장학금을 받은 학생이 대학원에서 다시 장학금 신청 가능

4. 한인 고등학생들이 한국과 미국을 연결하는 올바른 인재로 클수 있도록 한국 바로 알리기 활동을 한 우수 학생에 대하여 재미한국학교협의회(NAKS)와 협력하여 특별장학생으로 선정하고 장학증서와 장학금을 수여할 예정
