General Information for Korean Class for Adults 

 

  • All of our classes are for ages 16+

  • *Registration will be closed once it reaches the maximum number* 

  • There is no tuition because the Korean Ministry of Education sponsors our program, but we charge a registration fee ($70 for Spring/Fall regular classes, $140 for Certificate courses, $35 for Summer/Winter classes/Animated Korean) per semester.

  • Cancellation Policy ***UPDATED***

    -Full refund if a cancellation notice is received one week before the semester begins

    -50% refund if a cancellation notice is received before the second week of the semester

    -Non-refundable after the second week of the semester

         

  • Active Korean Class students need to purchase the textbook ACTIVE KOREAN Student Book (Author: Seoul National University Language Institute, Publisher: TWO PONDS, Order available from www.hanbooks.com or www.amazon.com). Workbook is optional but recommended.

  • Active Korean Class VS Certificate Korean Class

    -Active Korean Class: designed by the Chicago Korean Education Center/ 8 levels (no prerequisite needed, self-  placement offered)/ meet once a week/ textbook purchase needed

    -Certificate Korean Class: designed by the Ministry of Education in Korea for the people who need certificates from  Korean Government which can be considered same with TOPIK certificate in Korea/ currently just 2 levels available/ meet twice a week/ electronic textbook provided

  • *NEW* Animated Korean Class

   

    -Practice daily conversation and practice pronunciation by dubbing weather forecast news, K-dramas, and animations. This is an online course and we will meet via Zoom. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Jungeun Kim (kim3964@purdue.edu)

   *Eligibility

    -Animated Korean 1: Anyone completed Active Korean 1B/Certificate Level 1 at CKEC or elementary Korean 1 & 2 in   college-level courses

    -Animated Korean 2: Anyone completed Active Korean 2B/Certificate Level 2 at CKEC or Intermediate Korean 1 & 2 in   college-level courses
