Korean Language Class
General Information for Adult Korean Language Classes
🔹Eligibility: All classes are open to individuals aged 16 and above.
🔹Registration: Enrollment will close once the maximum class capacity is reached.
🔹Registration Fee:

$70 for Spring/Fall regular classes

$140 for Certificate courses

$35 for Summer/Winter classes
🔹Semester Schedule:

Winter: 5 weeks, starting early January to early February
-
Spring: 15 weeks, starting mid-February to late May
-
Summer: 6 weeks, starting late June to late July
-
Fall: 15 weeks, starting mid-August to late November (Registration for Fall 2025 opens on 7/9)
🔹Cancellation Policy

Full Refund: If cancellation is requested one week before the first session

50% Refund: If cancellation is requested before the second session
-
No Refund: After the second week of the session
🔹Self-Placement Test:

Requirement: All Active Korean Class students must complete the Self-Placement Test.

Level Adjustment: Instructors may recommend a different class level before the second day of the semester. Please note that level changes are not guaranteed.

Refund Policy: If an alternative class placement is not available, the registration fee will be refunded.

Required Textbook: ACTIVE KOREAN Student Book by Seoul National University Language Institute, published by TWO PONDS: Available for purchase at www.hanbooks.com or www.amazon.com.

Workbook: Optional but recommended for supplementary practice.
🔹Course Comparison:

Active Korean Class: designed by the Chicago Korean Education Center/ 8 levels (no prerequisite needed, self- placement offered)/ meet once a week/ textbook purchase needed

Certificate Korean Class: designed by the Ministry of Education in Korea for the people who need certificates from Korean Government which can be considered same with TOPIK certificate in Korea/ currently just 2 levels available/ meet twice a week/ electronic textbook provided
